Totnes Featured - HISTORIC ELIZABETHAN MARKET TOWN

powered by FreeFind

Totnes is a unique, beautiful and most interesting place to visit
No trip to South Devon is complete without visiting Totnes. Totnes is a beautiful old Elizabethan market town famous for its rich artistic community. Totnes is steeped in history and nestles in the Dart Valley in an area of outstanding natural beauty. The river Dart in Totnes forms a focal point of the lower town leading to the climbing High Street taking you past coffee shops, restaurants, inns, pubs and unique shops to the ancient Castle at the top. Totnes is one of Devon's gems; full of both colour and character, that stems from a rich cultural, historical and archaeological heritage.

It is the second oldest borough in England, and is full of interesting diversions for the visitor — museums, a riverside with steamer quay, an ancient Guildhall and Church, a Norman Castle and the North and East Gates.
